The Federal Skilled Worker Class, historically the most sought-after category, employs a point system to assess applicants’ potential for economic establishment in Canada, requiring a minimum of 67 points for eligibility.
Skilled workers are selected as permanent residents based on factors such as education, work experience, English/French language proficiency, with a score of 67 or higher qualifying for immigration, while scores below this threshold render applicants ineligible.
Alongside meeting selection criteria, applicants must demonstrate sufficient funds for resettlement in Canada. Once identified as part of the Federal Skilled Worker Class, both the principal applicant and accompanying family members must undergo medical examinations and pass criminal and security checks.
Note that Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) mandates the submission of government application processing fees for most applications. Since January 1, 2015, foreign nationals are chosen through the Express Entry system, necessitating an invitation to apply.
Express Entry for Federal Skilled Workers:
Under Express Entry, candidates meeting minimum entry criteria across 347 eligible occupations submit an expression of interest profile to the Express Entry Pool, aligning with the Federal Skilled Worker program.
